چکیده

Background: Shaking is a frequent adverse effect of anesthesia, which may potentially exacerbate the discomfort. It characterized by involuntary muscular contractions that can affect many muscle groups. extremely unpleasant and physically demanding. Objective: The purpose this study to examine efficacy Low Dose Ketamine against normal saline in preventing postoperative trembling. Study Design: Randomized Controlled Trial. Setting: Department Anesthesiology, Khyber Teaching Hospital, Peshawar. Duration Study: This was conducted from 1st July 2020 31st December 2020. Subjects Methods: Sixty male female patients who volunteered for lower abdominal surgery were studied. Each block six shuffled before randomization procedure began. Thirty people made up group (A), Normal Saline (B) (B). After 30 minutes, Crossley Mahajan scale used measure degree both groups shivering after surgical incisions had healed. done so we could gauge accuracy measuring device. Results: Age range 20 60 years. Efficacy observed 28 (93.3%) A as compare 16 (53.3%) B (P= 0.000). Conclusion: As consequence research, it appears 0.25 mg/kg ketamine an effective dose minimizing elective surgery. Keywords: Postoperative shivering, ketamine,

A Comparison of Intravenous Dexamethasone, Pethidine and Ketamine in the Prevention of Postoperative Shivering in Patients Undergoing General Anesthesia

Introduction and Purpouse: Postoperative shivering, which is unpleasant and annoying to the patient, occurs in patients with general anesthesia occurring in up to 65% of cases. Different mechanisms have been proposed for postoperative shivering. Chills after anesthesia can cause cardiovascular complications, bleeding and infections. this study, effects of dexamethasone, pethidine and ketamine h...

Postoperative Management of Shivering: A Comparison of Pethidine vs. Ketamine

BACKGROUND One of the unpleasant side effects of general anesthesia is shivering in the process of recovery. It is an involuntary oscillatory mechanical movement that can be classified as clonic movements. These movements can affect one or several groups of skeletal muscles beginning from 5 to 30 minutes after the discontinuation of anesthesia. OBJECTIVES We aimed to study ketamine's effect o...

Comparison of Different Doses of Magnesium Sulfate in Prevention of Postoperative Shivering in Patients Undergoing Spinal Anesthesia

Aims: Shivering is an oscillating and involuntary activity of the muscles which increases the metabolic hyperthermia and is considered as a complication in neuraxial anesthesia. Shivering also increases the cardiopulmonary activity and oxygen consumption of the tissue. In this research project, different doses of magnesium sulfate in prevention of postoperative shivering in patients undergoing ...
